Question on Carfax report my car and the odometer reading?
Carfax says there is an inconsistency in the history of the odometer of my car, may have been caused by error or fraud. I am buying this car of tomorrow, and we say that the odometer got rid of 27,000 to 18,000 two years ago. This car is 2003, and has had only one owner, so I'm not sure why they would reverse the odometer 2 years before he decided to sell, also why someone feels the need to reverse a car with only 27,000 miles?. This seems to be just an administrative error. Hopefully someone knows more I.
Find out if the car was rented * * by the previous owner. The only reason that makes sense to have done it on purpose at that time would been to avoid excess mileage on a lease. Even a little just before the owner must turn in, if the miles were obviously climbing rapidly … well, you * that * image. If the car was not leased, it is likely that only one good leg somewhere along the line. That said, it is not so easy to do, and I would try to identify where the two readings were taken with the discrepancy emerged. Carfax should be able to identify it for you.
